What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is an orthodontic system which uses a series of removable, clear aligners to straighten your teeth. These aligners are made of clear, plastic trays which are virtually invisible to the people around you.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

Invisalign is known for its incredible invisibility and comfort while it is straightening your teeth. Unlike traditional braces, there is no metal brackets involved. It is also a hygienic option as it can be easily removed when you eat, brush and floss your teeth.

Invisalign is able to correct many types of malocclusion:

What is the treatment process for Invisalign?

At this appointment we will assess your teeth and seek to understand your goals. We will then take a digital scan of your teeth along with some photos. Our Trios 3D scanner will capture a 3D image of your teeth without the use of any physical impressions. This data is then sent off to Invisalign for assessment and treatment planning. We will also require some radiographic imaging.

The beginning of a new smile!

At this appointment we will insert the first aligner in your mouth along with any ‘attachments’ that need to be placed on the teeth.

At these appointments we will ensure the tooth movement are on track and the fit of the trays are accurate. These appointments are generally 6-8 weeks apart.

The final step is removal of your Invisalign attachments and inserting retainers to keep your teeth in place.

How is Invisalign different from traditional braces?

Invisalign utilizes a set of clear plastic ‘trays’ or aligners that are made custom to your teeth. These series of trays are design to gently and slowly move your teeth over a period of time. Compared to traditional braces, Invisalign is barely noticeable. With traditional braces you will be able to see the metal brackets and wires in the mouth however with Invisalign the aligners are clear, and as such very hard to notice. Hygiene is also greater improved as Invisalign is able to be removed from the mouth when cleaning.

What’s the recommended daily wear?

The recommended daily wear is 22 hours. Invisalign should only be removed when eating, brushing or flossing throughout the day. Every hour counts however, and our recommendation is to not remove them regularly.
